Different type of Pressure vessel steel plate

Pressure vessel steel plates consist of carbon and alloy steel grades which are designed mainly for the use in pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchanger and in the vessels, containing gas or liquid in high pressure like gas cylinders for cooking, oxygen cylinders in diving, chemical, and liquid storage tanks, natural gas storage tanks, etc. The length, width, and thickness of pressure vessel steel plates are 3000 mm to 11000 mm, 1500 mm to 3000 mm, and 3 mm to 600 mm. They have a maximum thickness as per their capacity. The pressure vessel steel plate main properties are tensile strength, elongation, yield strength, and hardness.

There are different gases, liquids, and chemicals that can be stored in these vessels at different pressure. Non-toxic liquids like palm oils and kinds of milk and lethal acids like methyl isocyanate are stored. Some gases are stored at high temperature, whereas some are at low. These different chemicals and different temperatures greatly affect finding of the varieties of good and bad plates.

Pressure vessel steel plates are divided into three groups.

  1. Carbon steel pressure vessel grades

These abrasion-resistant steel plate are the standard steels used in the application where there are low corrosion and heat. The more effect of corrosion and heat, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum are added to give resistance to the plates. And hence these plates are also called Chrome-moly steel plates.

This weather resistant steel plate has varieties of grades such as ASTM A516 Gr 70/65/60 steel plate that is using in low temperature, ASTM A515 Gr 65/70 steel plate that is using in high temperature, ASTM A283 grade C steel plate that is using in low or intermediate temperature, etc.

  1. Low alloy pressure vessel grades

These are the ranges of chrome-moly that lie in between carbon steel pressure vessel and stainless-steel plates. These steel plates have better heat and corrosion resistance than carbon steel pressure vessel grades. These plates also have varieties of standards, such as A387 5, A387 11, A387 12, 16Mo3, etc.

  1. Stainless steel type vessel grades

The resistance of stainless-steel plates is comparatively increased due to chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. These high strength steel plates are also highly resistant to the environment, and so these are used in the food and chemical industries.

The best pressure vessel steel plates are determined by their quality, reliability, availability, and deliverability. The high quality of these plates is used in the oil and gas industries. They are negative temperature resistant and are crack resistant. The properties of thickness, length, and width of plates confirm their longer service life.

So high strength steel plates have different roperies and are used in different industries. Also, a different type of steel plates has different properties. One can buy these types of steel plates online also. They are very hard in nature, so life spam of these plates are very high, and they use in the material in which solid base is required.
